Sinfin-based Century Mobile launched a major fundraising campaign for Safe and Sound – enabling unused mobile phones and tablets to be recycled with money raised donated to the charity.  The initiative has proved incredibly popular and is now also supported by Derby Shopping Centre (formerly intu Derby) and by Yoo Kase at East Midlands Designer Outlet near Alfreton who are both collecting disused handsets and unclaimed phones from the centres’ lost property to be donated through Century Mobile’s scheme.

Colleague Box is a letterbox gift company launched during lockdown by entrepreneurial Derby couple Adam and Natalie Bamford. They have since been inundated with orders from companies wanting to cheer up remote workers and then welcome furloughed staff back to the workplace with tasty treats and personal messages delivered through the post. The expanding company has chosen Safe and Sound as its charity party for the festive season – donating £1 from each order received for personalised Christmas gift boxes to the charity. There are also supplying our Hope boxes for young people.

Derby Express Couriers is a family-run business which is one of Derby’s largest transport companies – delivering parcels to customers across the county and beyond.  They have helped Safe and Sound raise awareness of child exploitation through a giant game of Pass the Parcel with each of 50 customers unwrapping a layer to reveal prizes and information about the charity’s work.  DEC supervisor Antoni Jones also completed the Derby Half Marathon as part of Team Safe and Sound.

Innovative company Family Comforts upcycle people’s sentimental materials that people would otherwise keep in the cupboard or attic such as baby blankets and favourite shirts into beautifully crafted cuddly treasures such as bears, bunnies, unicorns, dragons, dinosaurs, horses, cats, foxes, dogs or elephants. Run by artisan creator Sandi Millichip-Massocchi, the company is donating £5 to Safe and sound for every bear ordered in November 2020.

Leading Midlands accountancy firm Dain has been a long-established supporter of Safe and Sound.  As well as providing accountancy expertise, staff at local offices have gone the extra mile to raise money for the charity.  These include John Southwell who recently raised more than £1,000 by completing a 100-mile cycle ride around the National Forest in lieu of taking part in the My Prudential Ride London event.

Vehicle leasing specialists Motion Vehicles, who are based in Hilton, have pledged support for Safe and Sound in a number of ways. Firstly, they are donating vehicles at the end of their life through the national ‘Giveacar’ scheme as well as working with partners and members of the public locally who want to do the same.  Vehicles are either sold through auctions or scrapped with proceeds going to Safe and Sound. Motion Vehicles also donate to the charity in return for referrals to them for vehicle leasing agreements.

We were represented at their annual Memorial Service in 2019 and also were chosen to kick start their “Wathall’s Wish” campaign which highlights a different local charity each month in early 2020.

Nelsons law firm has chosen Safe and Sound as their charity of the year.  The firm was formed in 1983 and has grown to become one of the leading law firms in the East Midlands with offices in Derby, Leicester and Nottingham, providing support and advice to businesses, individuals and families with their legal and investment needs.  Nelsons has won a clutch of awards the in recent times – including being shortlisted for The Lawyer Awards 2020 in the “Law Firm of the Year: The Independents” category.  These awards are widely recognised as the largest celebration of legal excellence in Europe, with more than 500 entrants being submitted each year.

Independently-owned creative agency Think3 have masterminded an online Santa experience on behalf of Rotary Club Derby and Safe and Sound – replacing the traditional Santa Sleigh with a Covid-safe operation which will still raise much needed funds for Safe and Sound. The Derby-based agency brings together a team of commercial, creative and technical specialists to provide effective marketing for businesses and organisations by bridging the gap between creativity and business. They have also helped Safe ad Sound develop some new creative resources

Rotary Club of Derby have supported Safe and Sound in many ways.  The charity were recipients of the Santa Sleigh in 2019 when families in Mickleover, Littleover and Chellaston helped the organisation raise more than £2,500 for Safe and Sound.  Christmas 2020 will be very different but funds will still be raised in a Covid-safe manner for the charity and Rotary satellite group have organised other events to support the charity including an innovative online Murder Mystery event and a race night.
